Chloroxylon swietenia. Air dried

Satinwood is a pale straw colour with light brown wavey grain. Darkens with age to a honey colour. It is a heavy, hardish timber with interlocking grain which finishes to a high lustre. It is a timber used in just about everything from construction through to fine cabinet work, musical instruments and carving, so these spindle blanks will make some nice boxes and fancy turnings.

Looks best when finished to a high shine rather than with oils.
