Tamarindus Indica. Part seasoned.

 Mozambican grown Tamarind wood. A fantastic timber, with a small section of extremely hard heart wood which is brown to dark brown or purple uniformed,  the outer paler wood must not be confused with sap wood as it makes up the bulk of the tree and is a creamy yellowish wood that is beautifully fractured and sometimes if you are lucky it may have a natural occurring spalting which develops whilst laying in the forest, also Tamarind may also of suffered boring insect attack before dying and which does stabilise when dried, the holes become a unique feature if they are combined with natural spalting, Tamarind turns easily . 

These blanks are from sustainable plantations so are not available in large sizes (or a wide range of sizes) and supply may not be continuous as the millers process each plantation; we have to accept whatever size blanks their trees have yielded.

The blanks are cut in the country of origin to provide local employment so we are selling them just as they arrive. The ‘bowl’ blanks are square (not round as we bandsaw most blanks) and all are waxed end grain only.
